Kenny had started to believe finding a job at the age of 63 would be impossible. But after coming to our Amble Employment Hub tells us how we helped him find employment.
My name is Kenny, and I would like to share my journey over the last 2 years.
I relocated to Northumberland in December 2019, after spending 16 years living abroad, to find a very different and much tougher job market than I had known before. Everything had gone ‘online’, all my previous contacts had moved on and not even the Job Centres could find you employment.
At the age of 63 I began to believe that securing a new job would be impossible.
I was pointed in the direction of Amble Employment Hub and signed up on Bridge Northumberland in February 2020. At the weekly meetings there I was given direction, encouragement and optimism and an opportunity to meet and socialise with others in similar circumstances, or just have a friendly chat over a cup of tea.
Despite the national lockdown I persevered with my job searches and applications, remained patient, and this paid off in February 2021 when I was offered a position in the NHS.
A big thank you to Andrew, Lisa, and Joy for all their help during this time.
I would recommend anybody who is struggling to find employment to take advantage of their support and guidance.
