We cherry-pick from a range of interventions available to us from our fantastic partners, so each month we are shining a light on a different support offer. This week we’re looking at Cygnus Support who provide a counselling service to Bridge beneficiaries.
Cygnus Support – offering mental health support
Cygnus Support offers one to one therapeutic counselling, one to one coaching and group workshops to Bridge Northumberland participants:
Counselling helps people with a range of mental health issues, including anxiety and depression
Coaching focuses on change and creating personal goals and can help with confidence and decision making
Workshops focus on personal development skills such as communication, managing stress, self-confidence, problem-solving, working with others and presenting yourself.
Cygnus has a dedicated Bridge Worker who works with each of their beneficiaries to create an action plan and support them to access the interventions they need within the project and any appropriate external services.
Amanda Sayers, Bridge Coordinator at Cygnus Support says of the service:
“Despite lockdown restrictions we’ve found that we’ve still been able to deliver our intervention to beneficiaries by telephone or video call, with a virtually seamless transition to remote delivery of appointments and sessions, and our beneficiaries have responded well to this new way of working. Our waiting list currently stands at 7 weeks”
Some feedback from a client:
“I am more confident and not afraid to stick up for myself. I have taken a leap and am starting some voluntary work. After reading my CV, three organisations have contacted me asking when I am available. I do not feel this would have been possible without the guidance I have received. I have learned a lot about myself and can’t thank my counsellor enough”
