What’s your role in a nutshell?
My role is to support people, who often face barriers, to improve their skills through learning. I engage with local community organisations to provide one to one and small group learning in maths, English and employability skills to create opportunities and enable people to apply for work with more confidence.
What’s the best part of your job?
I really admire people who want to improve their lives despite facing challenges. Getting to know someone and helping them to achieve even a small step towards their goal is the most rewarding part of the job for me.
What do your colleagues say is your best quality?
That I am friendly, reliable and make people feel valued.
What’s your favourite memory/proudest memory?
Serving with the Royal Air Force and working in some very challenging environments. Taking part in Remembrance Parades in front of the Queen was something i will never forget.
What’s your favourite food?
I enjoy Asian and Thai food and could eat it every day!
What do you like doing in your spare time?
I enjoy baking, watching films and going to the beach with my family and dog. I have spent more time in the garden this summer and have managed to grow some fruit and veg.
